Kaztec Engineering Ltd. Participated at 2nd Practical Nigerian Content 2012 Yenagoa

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, November 22, 2012 - Kaztec Engineering Ltd. (www.kaztec-eng.com), a 100 percent indigenous leader in the fabrication of drilling and production platforms and other specialized structures for the oil and gas industry, was one of the participating companies at NCI’s 2nd Practical Nigerian Content Conference, as a bronze sponsor. The event, which had as its theme, “Discover the opportunities – Hear the success stories – See it in action,” took place in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, from November 20 through 22, 2012.

With Nigerian Content implementation gaining momentum and its impact on the Nigerian oil and gas industry gradually being felt more and more, the Practical Nigerian Content Conference brought to bare several issues associated with the implementation of the Nigerian Content Act. the conference enabled delegates and speakers alike to voice their support for the law and the challenges and frustrations they have faced in its delivery, challenging stakeholders to continue working together to further increase Nigerian participation across the oil and gas value chain. 

Several speakers made presentations on topical issues as related to the Nigerian Content Development. These among other issues included, How Nigeria’s business environment would help the Nigerian Content, Investment in the Nigerian Content and Financing of Oil and Gas Projects. Others were Opportunities in Capacity Building, Maritime, Infrastructure, Manufacturing and Fabrication.

Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum Resources, announced that the implementation of the Nigerian Content program in the oil and gas industry has attracted Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) worth more than $500 million USD in the manufacturing of equipment components for the industry within the last 30 months.   

Also during the conference, participants visited the Niger Delta Exploration and Production PLC – Ogbele Field to witness firsthand the Nigerian Content achievements in the upstream sector, how it has been implemented and the benefits to the communities.
