Sir Emeka Offor Foundation Donation to Books For Africa is Largest Ever

bfa_logo.jpgABUJA, NIGERIA, May 20, 2013 - The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, a non-governmental, philanthropic organization focused on youth employment, families, education, healthcare and infrastructure development, today announced the donation of $600,000USD to the Books For Africa organization. It was the largest single donation made by any individual or group to the organization.

Books For Africa is a nonprofit organization based in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA, founded by Mr Tom Warth. It is the world's largest provider of educational books to Africa.

While already the largest private donor of books on the continent, the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation has taken another giant stride toward the fulfilment of its vision to revitalize education in Africa.

The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation is proud to support and work in partnership with Books For Africa. The Foundation has made tremendous efforts in sending books to schools and libraries in Africa. In 2012, the support of the Foundation helped to fill the shelves of more than 90 libraries. Together, nearly 640,000 books — worth more than $6.5 millionUSD — have been shipped to students in Nigeria and The Gambia by Books For Africa through the support of the Sir Emeka Offor Foundation.

Books For Africa and the Foundation plan to ship even more throughout West Africa over the coming years.
