Port Harcourt TAM was a huge success - Chrome Consortium

The management of Chrome Group has reacted to allegations being peddled on the website of Sahara reporters to the effect that Chrome Consortium did a shoddy job with the turn around maintenance of the Port Harcourt refinery.

The management of Chrome Group has reacted to allegations being peddled on the website of Sahara reporters to the effect that Chrome Consortium did a shoddy job with the turn around maintenance of the Port Harcourt refinery. Confirming that there is no iota of truth whatsoever in the report on Sahara reporters website titled "How Emeka Offor ruined the national refineries", where one Dr Gary K. Busch said among others, that "understanding the role of Emeka Offor is key to understanding an important part of what has gone wrong with Nigerian oil refining", the Group Chief Communications Officer, Mr Val Oji said that the report is malicious, wicked, fictitious and intended to cause widespread disaffection and misinform the general public.

"For the records, the Vice Chairman of Chrome Oil Services, Sir Emeka Offor in partnership with Romania National Oil Company - S. N. P. Petromy S. A., S. Petrconsult S. R L, and U. M. D (Universal Montaj Darzeu) bided as Chrome Consortium following laid down procedure and prequalification conditions and was awarded the TAM contract following due process", Mr Oji said. Continuing he said, "Chrome Consortium was a contractor to the Federal Government of Nigeria through the NNPC and was neither the gatekeeper nor the arbiter, in the conditions governing performance or non-performance in the TAM project. It therefore could not be held responsible for the state of affairs at the Port Harcourt refinery, more than 6 years after the TAM project was given a clean bill of health by the relevant clearing authorities"

Brandishing original copies of certificates of completion representing different components of the turnaround maintenance, dated between July 25, 1999 and October 31, 2000, and duly endorsed by NNPC executive directors responsible for the project at that time Messrs Engr L. E. Somiari, Engr. S. A Achimugu and Engr. B. O. Williams and a representative of Shell Manufacturing Services, Mr Oji challenged Dr Gary K. Busch to publish any evidence that he may have to support his allegations, if he wants to be taken seriously.

Condemning the allegations as the handiwork of mischievous and wicked people, the Chrome Group spokesperson advised the public to ignore Dr Gary K. Busch and his cohorts , advising the writer to find something useful to do with his time, rather than maligning well-meaning and law abiding citizens.

He warned that their lawyers are studying the matter and the group would not hesitate to take appropriate and decisive legal action should the writer and his sponsors continue in their malicious campaign.
